Henry Fonda Sweater for The Mogrunt

Yesterday, I finally upgraded my Flickr to pro. I thought I could live without pro, but it turns out that I missed it... and it was driving me nuts that I couldn't access my old project photos online. I certainly didn't want to load them again!

So, I spent part of the morning going through my old knitting projects and adding them to Ravelry. What fun! Now it looks like I've suddenly banged out a pile of FOs. Now I know how Deb feels when she updates the Knitting Pharm!

During the process, I added the little Ribbed Jacket from Debbie Bliss Special Knits. Here's the Ravelry link to the one I knit for Sarah G - youngest daughter of my childhood friend, Leslie. Then, I clicked the link to the pattern page on Ravelry and saw this (Non-ravelry link).

So yesterday, after getting my hair cut, I met up with ElectronKnits at the loop and fell head over heels for some heathered, dark green Cascade 220 superwash.

I said to Mimi, "That sweater, in this green? It makes me think of Henry Fonda in "On Golden Pond"

Mimi must think I've lost my mind. She said something about not being sure that's what a mother wants for her child... but she encouraged me to buy the yarn anyway.

Henry Fonda Sweater

For your reference, there's a picture of Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn from the movie here.

Seriously - take a look at the picture. What colour is his sweater? HA! Green! I win!  Oh.  Excuse me.  I'm not sure where that came from.

It's been a long time since I've seen "On Golden Pond". I was only 8 when it came out but I remember watching it with my mom whenever it played on TV. Brilliant movie. Seriously.  If you haven't seen it, rent it if you can find it or borrow it from the library. Henry Fonda won a Best Actor Academy Award for this movie, which was also his last.

I can't wait to put this sweater on our kid, so that I can look at him and say, "Oh Norman, you old poop!"

  1. I love that movie. I'd like to watch it again...haven't seen it for years. And the sweater is sweet. Love it too.
