Yoi. I hadn't updated my BAT-KAT totals since June 16.
I added 30 bicycle /walking trips to my total, as well as over 70km to my biking total.
Yay me. Yay bicycle.
The next move? Get one of these for grocery and other "big load" trips: Bakfiet

BAT - KAT - Catching up
So, going on vacation really screwed up the old BAT/KAT posts. (ie: those posts where I report in how many trips I have used alternate, earthy friendly transportation to get around)
May 19th to 25th:
I biked to work only 2 days. I have some excuses: The 19th was a holiday... and I had to attend a convocation brunch downtown (I took the ferry!). But I ruined it all by having to fly to Vancouver. If only I could have cycled across the country.
May 26th to June 1st:
While in Vancouver, Angie and I walked almost every day.
June 2nd to 8th:
Back at home, I spent the first day recuperating and then went back to work.
June 9th to 15th:
Last week I was back into the swing of things at the office. I met friends in Halifax on Friday morning and worked that night and on Sunday at the pharmacy. Then there was WWKIP AND a night at the local watering hole with friends (I walked down with the cutest sailor ever). When Sunday night rolled around I was quite happy to hit the hay... but I'm also happy to report:
Soooooo... the total number of kilometres on the old bicycle for this season is raised to: 213km!
Here is the summary of the last month:

BAT / KAT
Normally, I don't join things... I don't do "alongs" because I can never count on my schedule or my stick-to-it-iveness to get a project finished on time... and who needs to add more guilt to their life??
When Claudia announced a new project on her blog, I realized that, for once, it's an "along" I can see myself "alonging" with.
Claudia's project?
The Bicycling As Transportation - Knitters Alternatively Transporting ("BAT/KAT") project.
To quote Claudia:
"The goal of this project is to replace a car trip with a bicycle trip/walking/non-car trip at least once per week, briefly 'fessing up to our progress every Monday morning. The only rule is that the bicycle/walk/non-car trip must truly be a replacement for an errand trip that would otherwise have been done in the car. Recreational trips are excluded, except if an errand done while on a recreational trip replaces a car trip."
Now that the weather is getting nicer, I'm back biking to work. I think I started around April 7th? And since the only requirement to join is that I chose to take my bike instead of the car, then I'm soooo in!
Since I'm a total geek, I'm going to track my kilometres for my biking season. Each trip to work is 3.59km for me ("map my run" works for bikers too!), so already this spring, I've biked over 75 km. That's 21 trips to and from work, and doesn't include my two trips to the library.
Wheeeeee!
The only problem with starting this week is that I'll be out of the office at meetings for most of next week. Also, not good for BAT/KAT, my SIL and BIL are away for the next week so we've borrowed my BIL's truck as we need to run some "truck errands" as we're spring cleaning the basement. Doh!
Oh well, I'll just have to make up for it with more bike errands.
Does anyone want to BAT/KAT with me?
