The Cutest Little FOs

Sweaters by Auntie Steph.
Kids by Mommy and Daddy.
First, big sister, Lauryn, the cutie patootie:

Look at that smile! If it were any bigger, she'd be carrying a bouquet of roses, waving a white gloved hand and wearing a Miss Universe crown!!! What a doll. Isn't she the coolest in her butterfly jeans?

Next we have little sister Brooke, the snuggle bug:

Do you see those eyes? When she blinks the hearts of men shatter into a million pieces.
Apparently Nanny has little turtlenecks for them to wear under their sweaters. I can't wait to see those photos!

Details:
Pattern:
Debbie Bliss' Molly from Junior Knits
Yarn: Debbie Bliss' Merino Aran
Sizes: Lauryn's sweater - size 6 (I think - I don't have the pattern right here)
Brooke's sweater - size 3-4 (again, I think) - I had to get an extra ball of yarn for hers.
Fit: Both sweaters appear to fit well. A quick little soak, some blocking and the sleeves could easily be lengthened when the girls hit a growth spurt. I had Lauryn's sweater on and it fits me like a shrug!
Thoughts on the Pattern: These are the 2nd and 3rd things I've knit from Debbie Bliss' books. I really like how she says "Knit for this many rows". I'm still a beginner in the sweater department, so when someone says "Knit until the piece measures 15 inches" sometimes I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to stretch the piece or not stretch the piece when I'm measuring. If I put something on a table and measure the length, it's shorter than when smoothe it out on my lap.
I discovered that I do not like picking up all those stitches for the collar and procrastinated on both sweaters because of that. Once I had picked up the stitches and started knitting again, I wanted to kick myself for procrastinating. I loved knitting those collars.
Modifications: There are some short rows in the collar. I wasn't completely happy with the holes that appeared as a result of turning around mid-row. On the second sweater I wrapped some stitches to help avoid the holes. I'm not telling which one has the holes and which one doesn't.

Wow you've got some good looking nieces. Love the butterfly jeans.

Your sweaters look so nice!!!! Well done! Picking up those stitches would have reduced me to tears more than once.

What cuties -- girls and sweaters.

Does the little one look like you or am I imagining it?

  3. It would be imagination.

    These are my step-sister's children.
However, my dad does say that Brooke reminds him of me as a child.
