With Dog, Without Husband

While Andrew is off gallivanting around TEXAS, attending SXSW, meeting fabulous musicians, enjoying the warmth of the Texan sun, I have the unglamourous job of poopie scooping.

Pippin tours downtown Dartmouth

Pippin sniffs the sniffs on the Dartmouth waterfront.

Pippin is here for the week while his family is on Spring Break. He's been a great companion in the evenings when Andrew has been at work. And he was a great snuggle buddy this morning after we drove Andrew to the airport.

Aside: Whose brilliant idea was it to have flights leave so early in the morning? We had to leave the house at 4:00am. Blah. I haven't heard from him yet, so I hope he made it there ok. He had a series of "Milk Run" flights.

And because I have no knitting to show you - I'll distract you with these photos of the lovely belated birthday gift I received last week from Minou's mommy:

Amazing birthday gift from Angela

What EVER could all this be?

It's open!

Awwww, the card was signed by Minou, Birdie and Angie! Awwwww...

Sweet mother of DOG

DO YOU SEE ALL OF THAT? It's the motherload of needles!!!! Clovers! all of them. They're beautiful and wonderful and they're MINE ALL MINE! There are, clockwise from top left:

1. Birdie photos

2. A doggie notepad (the same kind which I carry in my bag all the time!!! Angie didn't know about it - she's a mind reader!)

3. Minou photos and one Birdie photo.

4. CHOCOLATE (which you just KNOW is gone)

5. One of those cool thingys for your finger so that I can knit fair isle without getting tendonitis again

6. The MOTHERLOAD OF NEEDLES. Sorry. I had to point it out again. I mean, they are there, in clockwise order, but holy mother of dog!

7. Scissors - I know it's hard to see, but there is a pair of tiny scissors there and they are just the best. They make the most satisfying scissor sound when you use them. It makes me think of the smell of construction paper and Elmer's glue.

Angie is the most amazing friend in the entire world. I, on the other hand, suck raw eggs through a dirty straw. Her b-day present is still sitting here. The most exciting thing amongs her gifts is the penis pencil I picked up for free in Atlanta at the Medtrade show. It was from the vacuum pump company. If you don't want to know, don't ask.

And to further distract you from remembering that I should really be writing up the materials for my class on Saturday, here are two photos from our evening out with Becca and Troy. We went to my favourite restaurant in all of Dartmouth - Kababji. It's located in the industrial park - which doesn't make it the most elegant location for dining on a Friday night - HOWEVER - the interior is so nice, the food is excellent and I just LOVE IT! I've been there 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Ok, ok, 5 times if you count yesterday.

Now, I know this isn't a photo of the happy couple and the engagement ring... but, well, it's my blog and if I want to post this I'm certainly within my rights. I'm also tired, blinking at the screen past dried out contact lenses and wearing handknit socks with my housecoat. It's not pretty, but I'm within my rights.

My hands

I know this is hard to see, but these are my hands wrapped around the HUGE coffee mugs they have at Kababji. Now, those of you who know me, know I'm a short person and hence I have small hands. Those of you who know Andrew, know he isn't a giant. He's about 5'10". He shouldn't have hands that can palm a basketball.

Andrew's hands

How the heck did he get hands like that? And why can't I convince him to knit?

  1. that can't be the same glass. no way.... andrew's hands aren't that big.
You send me a list next time - I'll get you more. I swear they were cheap. I feel bad there wasn't more in that package but it was already soooo late.
Luc didn't want me to send the chocolate by the way. He was upset.

  3. What? Angie's not getting a plastic bag you can pee in?

The angle on the photo of Andrew's hands makes them look bigger, doesn't it? It reminds me of that photo of Picasso where his arms go under the table and there's those big puffy breads on the table so they look like his big, fat fingers.
