And Thus...

...it begins.

grabbing eggs

...both the premier of my new digital camera (no more crappy video camera pics for me) and the Creme Egg season.
This entire box of Creme Eggs was given to my coworker last night. She ate three on the way home in her car. This afternoon, three of us toasted the coming of spring with... well, at least one egg each.

This:

Maple Curry Chicken

is the Maple Curry Chicken that Andrew and I had for supper tonight. His sister gave me the recipe. We called her during our first bite to tell her how much we love her and the recipe.

Good news: I'm back knitting again! My Physiotherapist checked my wrist last night and declared that I am "almost normal" (a common sentiment among my friends and aquaintances as well).

I must say, this last few weeks without the needles has been almost freeing. I've had the time to examine my reasons for knitting. When I first started knitting it was for the pure joy of seeing the fabric form beneath the needles. As the realization that knitting wasn't just magical, it was soothing, it became something to do when I felt impatient, to fill the hours between work and bed while Andrew is working, to keep me from becoming a complete and utter brainless twit with a TV remote control. Just before the tendonitis struck, I think I was knitting because I HAD to get something done, because time spent not knitting was time wasted. I was neglecting many things and I was starting to make me worry about myself. I was a woman obsessed with output.

Now that I've had a break, I am no longer obsessing about things getting in the way of my knitting time. I've taken some time to read a book and start another. I've tidied up parts of the house that were looking dusty and neglected. I've eaten an entire pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. I've stepped back and I think I've found the happy medium.

I've organized all my UFOs and I'm going to work through them. I can't promise that I'll tackle them one at a time, but I'll try. I'm going to take nights off to read (wretched books that don't stay open while you knit). I'm going to attempt to knit from the stash for a while.

Let's see how long this lasts, eh?

In other news, Tangled Skeins is moving two doors up Portland street on Sunday. Hopefully, we'll get it all done in a decent amount of time and she'll be rip-roaring ready for Monday morning. I'm working at the shop tomorrow; see y'all there!

  1. Ooooh, I want that recipe. Can never have enough maple in life.
My thing with knitting, or reading even, is I have a short attention span and want the thing done right away. That's why I've only made one sweater to date.

That does look yummy - maple and curry and carbs in the same dish. Heaven.

Confession: I might be the only person on earth (other than Mr Moe) who does not like creme eggs. I briefly conformed for a few years in my early 20's and ate them to fit in, but never really savoured them. I don't really like caramel eggs either. I would rather focus my energies on chocolate eggs filled with peanut butter.

  4. Not a fan of the creme eggs, either. The maple curry chicken, on the other hand, would definitely go down a treat.
I think I'll try to come with a variation of it this weekend.
Glad you're knitting and cooking again.
And I'm sorry I missed what sounded like a crazy night at Uncommon Grounds! Bald hoo hoo?

I've always been amazed at those times when I can't knit at how freeing it is in some ways. Of course, as soon as I'm able to get back at it I'm sucked back into the vortex. I've yet to find the black hole in the middle of my stash, but I'm sure it's there somewhere and that's what's warping the space time continuum of my life.

I'm sure your creme eggs never last long enough for you to need one of these, however I thought you may like the link to the pattern. http://www.web-goddess.org/archive.php/postID/4732
