Creamed Peas on Toast

A-Ha! Apparently we weren't the only family to enjoy this comfort food:

Here's a link to a recipe which is similar to what I use.

I make a white sauce and throw in a can of peas (canned peas only, no frozen, they aren't mushy enough) and serve it on toast. When I'm feeling really fancy, we throw in a can of tiny shrimp.

Heh heh, tiny shrimp.

  1. I do it with salmon in it. We call it (who knows why, because it doesn't make it sound very appealing) Salmon-Pea Wiggle. It was in the regular rotation in my home growing up, and I still make it on occasion now. I have gussied up the recipe for our grown-up tastes now -- I add white wine and lots of garlic and sometimes cooked broccoli and carrots, too.

It was a favorite of our daughter when she was little. She incorrectly pronounced it "Sam Pea Wiggle."

  2. Ugh, I won't go into the details...but I think I'm off peas for the rest of this pregnancy *gags*

I LOVE green peas on toast. One of my all time favourites. I don't doctor it up - just the white sauce, Can Peas and the toast, and a hot strong cup of Tetley.
