I've Been AWOL for good reasons...

I know you have all been waiting with bated breath for me to post. There are several good reasons why I haven't posted lately:

1. I haven't had Mr. Happy's computer. I usually use his computer to post b/c I worry about the propriety of posting from work, even if I do it at lunch time. I just don't want to give the wrong impression. This isn't to say I haven't done it in the past and won't do it in the future, it's just that I didn't feel it was the right thing to do it this week.

2. I don't have many photos to share. We've reached that time of year when the skies are generally grey and cloudy in the morning and dark in the evenin. I haven't been ambitious enough to take any photos during the work day (see #1).

3. I'm still waging the war against the germs. This morning I had a new development in the battle - a goopy eye. Mr. Happy is out right now picking up some eye ointment to get me through until I can get to the doctor in the morning. I called the Emergency room at the Dartmouth General and apparently the waiting room is full of SICK people! Ewww. I don't want to be around them! What if I get a new bug? I've already lost my voice and have been told I sound like I'm crying or like I'm imitating Marge Simpson.

In an effort to laugh at myself, I'll share this little story with you:
This morning I went downstairs to throw some laundry in the dryer. I was so frustrated by the coughing and everything else, that I just gave in and started to cry. Hot little tears ran down my face (I don't even want to think what my goopy eye looked like at that point), as I started to sob. I felt pathetic and stupid and quite silly when I heard myself because the sobbing didn't sound at all like the wail of a gentlewoman, hiding in the laundry to conceal her grief and frustration... no, instead I sounded like a seal, barking for a fish. Hooop, hooop.

Mr. Happy heard the noise and came running down the stairs. He told me I shouldn't even be in the basement, and ushered me up the stairs. He put the laundry in the dryer and, I'm sure, took a moment to chuckle at the noises I was making.

hoop, hoop... Stephanie out.
